TAHUYA, Wash. -- A teenage girl has been arrested in Mason County for allegedly shooting her dad with an arrow after he took her cell phone away.

Detectives say the man told officers that his 15-year-old daughter used a hunting bow to shoot him Wednesday evening after he grounded her and took the phone. He's listed in serious condition at a Seattle hospital.

Deputies say the girl fled into woods behind her home with the bow and arrows but a SWAT team surrounded her and arrested her for investigation of first-degree assault.

I'm really surprised the story doesn't mention where exactly the father was shot.

I blame it on Hunger Games, which I'm reading right now. Katniss and her bow-hunting proficiency is a bad example to girls everywhere. ;)

Shooter was Kirsten Nicole Iovinelli, father's name, Tony. Apparently the arrow went into his side under his armpit, and wasn't a hunting arrow but a target trainer.

Girl apparently hunts deer. And now, long pig ...

From 9:24am to 4:53pm...that's a long time to milk a joke, my friend. But I got a chuckle.

MIght be more going on here -- no mother around, the dad and daughter live out in the woods alone. Cops said she was an emotional wreck, too much so to interview. Sounds like more than just a cell phone getting taken away.

Hmmmm...perceptive, as always.

I know the family personally & know for a fact that the media has both left out many details, as well as put their own spin on the few that they DID give. I've known Kirsten since she was born & Tony even longer than that. Her mother & I have been friends since we were 14 years old. Kirsten is NOT one of those troubled teens that is suffering from abuse or neglect, nor is she likely to go shoot up a school somewhere. Tony is a GREAT dad, & her mom loves her very much. What happened was an accident in the middle of a normal argument between a teenager & her parent. It just got heated & out of hand.

True, that the news media are not known for their scrupulous attention to detail. I offered that there might be more to it than just a cell phone, and I still think so. If a child deliberately puts an arrow into her parent, that's not a normal argument. The reason it made it the news is because it is most unusual. It's not like a gun going off by accident in the heat of the moment because of a finger-twitch.

While I appreciate your post, saying that Kirsten is a good kid and her father a great parent doesn't really shed any light on the event; if anything, it raises more questions.

There are always 2 sides to the story.and what happends behind closed doors only they know and some of her friends.what might seem like a great father daughter relationship aparently is not.She is not the type of girl who would shoot her Dad over a cell phone he had to of done something pretty bad to her in order for her to shoot him.i HOPE SOCIAL SERVICES GET INVOLVED i would hate for her to go back home after all that could you imagine the revenge he might have on her i guess it would be ok if she kept her mouth shut and let everyone think it was all her and go back to being daddys little girl to the out side world.
