So, In Honor of Obama's Victory ...

A reprise of a little tune I wrote for Steve Barnes, who brought this deficit in American big-budget movie-making to my attention. And, expecting that if Obama wins the whole shebang, things will change, the No Nookie Song, before it gets made moot ...

The dog barking at the end of the song is genius.

Yeah. Hard to time that, but my dogs are good about chiming in. You should hear them when a squirrel runs across the roof. Sounds like an audition for The Hound of the Baskervilles ...

Not to be argumentative with creative genius (love the song), but I would like to submit for your review "The Long Kiss Goodnight." Sam Jackson and Geena Davis in a pool chair with a view. Funny thing is I remember this scene from the movie when it was in the theaters some twelve years ago. Maybe it's because I think Ms. Davis is hot, but maybe I remember it because the scene, for reasons your tune points out, was so out of the ordinary. I'll go with the former, but give a nod to the latter.

Ah, I should have put in the qualifier -- the Barnes's study was for big-budget movies, the blockbusters. In those that gross say, a hundred million or ore, the black guy never gets laid.

I remember The Long Kiss. That great knife scene in the kitchen, where she figures she must have been a chef ...

And there have been plenty of other movies wherein the black guy did get laid. Who can forget Jim Brown and Raquel Welch in 100 Rifles? But for the purposes of hyperbole, and to get names that were recognizable, the song didn't address these lesser-budget movies.
