The second is interesting because it demonstrates the gestalt principle of emergence: You either see it or you don't, and you don't assemble it piecemeal, spotting the parts and then mentally putting them together to make the dog. I expect this partially why people can see Jesus or the Virgin Mary's image on a cookie or water-stain on the wall. They want to see it, and once they suggest that it's there, others see it, too.
