Something for the Computer Geeks


True geeks already know about it, but it is interesting. I dunno how well it works, but if it does, the cool factor will be way up there.

I'll be danged, they finally got that thing into production.

Now I want to see them actually build it into a PDA.

Put a little flippy stand on the PDA so it can stand up enough to let the laser work, and now we are talking serious input capability with itty bitty computers.

I might just have to buy one then.

It's more difficult to use than you may think. I couldn't get used to it and got a regular keyboard...See, we are used to the resistance and click of normal keys. As an exercise, try just tapping your fingers on a smooth even surface & you'll see what I mean.

I have a low-touch keyboard, from the defunct Fingerworks company. Designed for people with hand problems, it is flat, and sensitive enough so that a drop of condensation falling off my water glass and hitting it would type a letter.

I like tactile feedback, and there wasn't any, though I did have a program that provided key sounds, like a typewriter and that helped some, I didn't like it.

As an adjunct to a Blackberry or cellphone for texting, I could see it, but as a full-time input device for writing, I didn't. Same would go for the projector, I think.
