The Villella pic is great. Impressive, to put it mildly. That said, the height can be deceiving. The last photoshoot I did, the photographer sat down on the floor and asked for a jump side kick aimed at the camera. In real life, it looked like a jump side kick towards somebody's knee. In the picture, it looks like I'm as high off the ground as Villella. Not saying he can't jump, only that pictures are deceiving.
As for gymnasts; there's a documentary of Russian gymnasts training. They're in this really old complex, one with an incredibly high ceiling and huge windows. There are drapes hanging down from top to bottom on the windows. One gymnast starts climbing a rope with legs straight and at a right angle to his body. Halfway up, his feet catch the drapes. He doesn't even slow down and keeps climbing while lifting the drapes. Talk about strong...
