emergence: You either see it or you don't, and you don't assemble it piecemeal, spotting the parts and then mentally putting them together to make the dog. Lot of empty space that your mind fills in to get the image, but it's pretty much
snap! there it is ...
I expect this partially why people can see Jesus or the Virgin Mary's image on a cookie or water-stain on the wall. They want to see it, and once they suggest that it's there, others see it, too.
